Advent Day 24

Scripture: Ephesians 2:13-14 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.  For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility…

Devotional: In all the ground we have covered during these Advent days, Waiting, the Light, Ransom, this sums up the entire purpose for all those things.  Because of Christ Jesus, all who were once far away have been brought near, by His blood. And that which once divided us, has been destroyed.  Jesus is our Peace.

Verse 18 goes on to say, “For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”  Glory to the newborn King!  For He has done this.  He has saved us, ransomed us, redeemed us.  Let’s celebrate that with great thanksgiving and praise.

  • What has it meant to you to be brought near to God?
  • How have you been blessed by the peace offered through Jesus Christ?
  • If you have yet to receive the gift of salvation brought through Christ, would you surrender your life to Him now?

God With Us...

Scripture: Luke 2:8-14 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Devotional: He is the Messiah, the Lord.  The wait is over.  The Messiah has come.  What glorious news to those shepherds on that starry night, and what glorious news this is for you and me.  News that we not only receive, but that we share.  For the message of Christmas gets lost in the chaos of this world every year. It’s up to you and me to remind ourselves, and all with whom our lives intersect, that Jesus is the Messiah, the long awaited One.  He is our Peace, He is our Salvation.
