Scripture: Psalm 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Devotional: Have you ever had the opportunity to personally observe a baby being delivered from its’ mother’s womb? It is a beautiful, holy moment that often leaves one awestruck. There is something so sacred about new life coming forth into the world.
When you consider the process of re-creation, that fruitful purpose that God established from the beginning, it’s hard to imagine anyone believing that this is accidental. There is so much beautiful, intricate detail in the physiology of the re-creation process, from conception to birth.
But it’s more than just biology. This passage reveals God’s magnificent, purposeful work in the life of every human. Every day is ordained for each one of us and written in God’s book before one has even come to be! We are fearfully, wonderfully and purposefully made.
