Basic Christianity Day 7
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
Devotional: How fitting that, before Jesus left this earth, He gave His disciples a beautiful sacrament to commemorate the crimson thread of His shed blood on the cross of Calvary.
We call it communion, or the Lord’s Supper, and we celebrate it together as a body of believers.
Next time you take that bread and the cup of juice that represents Christ’s blood sacrifice once and for all, take time to thank God not only for Christ’s sacrifice, but for God’s perfect plan of redemption.
A plan that began in Genesis and continues through the last words we are given in Revelation.
- What most often has gone through your mind when you drink the cup during communion? How will you think of it differently now?
