It's Ok Not to Be Ok- Day 10
Scripture: Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
Devotional: Loneliness is not just the absence of people, but can be described as an unfulfilled longing. An unfulfilled desire, a lost sense of purpose or identity, or a feeling of exclusion can all contribute to loneliness. But when we closely follow after Jesus, our Chief Shepherd, we will not lack anything.
The apostle Paul encourages Jesus’ followers in His own discovery of this truth: “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:11-13)
Contentment isn’t something we are given, it’s something we choose with the help and power of Jesus Christ who gives us strength. It’s a change of perspective, a humbling of the heart.
