Made to Worship Day 6
Scripture: Psalm 69:29-30 But as for me, afflicted and in pain—may your salvation, God, protect me. I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.
Devotional: The enduring worshipper.
What pain and affliction have you had to endure in your life? Were you able to experience God’s protection in the midst of that?
Worship ushers in a way for that very thing to happen. When you praise God and offer thanks despite your suffering, remarkable things happen. Your spirit connects with God’s spirit and lifts you from the depths of despair. Your own suffering becomes a way to intimacy with Christ.
In Philippians 3:10, the apostle Paul says, “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death…”. Paul understood that suffering, and every time he suffered, it brought him closer to His Savior. Because he chose to endure for Christ’s sake.
- What perspective does this passage bring that you might endure and worship God in the midst of your own suffering?
