What Hurts the Heart of Jesus? Day 4
Scripture: Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Devotional: Have you ever heard anyone say, “I have faith, but it’s personal.”? Have you ever said that yourself?
Why is it that we often don't share our faith? Not to be harsh, but could it be because we don't really believe the Gospel is true? Because if we really believed that people without Christ are destined for a very real place called hell, a place of eternal torment and suffering; and if we love people at all, then we would let our light shine all the time. Yet, we too often live with spiritual indifference to the eternal state of others.
Why have we let our culture dictate that to share our faith and to let our light shine might be offensive? It’s offensive to love people? It’s offensive to care about their soul?
Rejecting spiritual indifference means being willing to risk- risk the offense of others, risk being ridiculed or even persecuted. But isn’t that what love requires of you and me?
- Examine your own practice of letting your light shine before men? What do your actions say about what you believe?
