Scripture: Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Devotional: In this series of devotionals, we’re asking ourselves the question: “Is a great marriage even possible?” And we are responding to that question with a resounding “YES!”, knowing that God has laid out a blueprint for healthy and vibrant relationships throughout His Word.
It starts with the foundation of seeking God first. That means God is your number one and your spouse is your number two. When God is first, all other things fall into place. It doesn’t mean you won’t be faced with challenges, but it does mean that despite those challenges your relationship can endure – and thrive.
There’s a great old hymn with the lyrics, “On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand…” This holds true in our marriages and families. When you seek God first, He is your firm foundation, and though storms may come, your foundation will not be shaken.

- Take time to reflect: is God your number one? Or is there another or others in that place (spouse, kids, etc.)? What can you do to seek Him first?
