Day 15 What God Can Do Through Ordinary You

April 21, 2024

Scripture: Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

Devotional: When you take a dive into Scripture and look at the amazing ways that God uses individuals, one common denominator is that nearly every person will go through some kind of test. The same is true for each of us as we are on this journey of faith.

It’s been said that a faith that has been tested is a faith that can be trusted. So, this week, in our devotions, we’ll be looking at the life of Abraham, whose story shows us some common tests that true believers in God will likely face at some point in their lives. It helps to be mindful of these tests so that you might recognize them for what they are and see your faith deepened when you face them.

The first test we see in Abraham’s life is the test of major change. Abraham was 75 years old when God called him out of his comfortable life to go to a place of uncertainty. He literally had no idea where God was taking him, He just knew God was essentially kicking him out of the nest and into an uncertain future. This was, however, a future with a promise.

If you have ever, or are currently facing a time of uncertainty, or are perhaps being uprooted in your life, be encouraged today. Abraham’s story shows us the faithfulness of God and the assurance of His promises. You may not know what lies ahead, but you do know the One who does.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28
