Day 21 The Church

February 03, 2024

Scripture: 1 Peter 4:7-10 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Devotional:  We are the church. We don't just go to church. We are the church. We are the body of Christ, the hands and feet of Jesus. We're the bearers of good news. We are the feet that bring the story of the gospel. And what we do, how we show love to the least of these, we're doing it unto Jesus.

When we love deeply and extend grace, when we joyfully offer hospitality, and when we serve others with our gifts, we are carrying out what we’ve been created for:  that is to live in the kind of community that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit do.

So, take a little inventory today.  What sins of others have been annoying to you lately? Where have you found yourself grumbling about extending hospitality or serving someone else?  Who has been getting on your last nerve?  Stop now and pray for them and yourself.  Ask God to soften your heart, enable you to forgive, and be a steward of His grace – the same grace you have received again and again.

Reflect:

  • Who comes to mind as you take your inventory? Pray for them today and each day this week.  And pray for yourself to be alert and of sober mind as you steward God’s grace all for His glory.
