Day 23 Love & Marriage

February 26, 2024

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.”

Devotional: What do you view as sexual immorality? Is it only having a sexual relationship with someone other than your spouse? Short answer? No.

Technology has ushered in a plethora of ways for people to engage in sexual immorality – ways that were unimaginable only 20 years ago. There was a time when a person had to seek to engage in sexual immorality. Now it is continually, and at every turn, seeking you

Scripture teaches us to flee. In the original Greek, this word is translated as flee is pheugō, meaning to be saved by flight, to escape safely out of danger. The problem is, much of the time we don’t see the danger. We buy into the culture’s assessment that everyone engages with a little of this and that and it harms no one. It’s just a little fun. We don’t see the carnage that comes when people fall prey to the most minute of temptations and find themselves caught in a downward spiral. Pornography. Online relationships. Any sexual activity or sexual experience that does not honor God.

Don’t be another statistic of a person who never saw themselves engaging in an affair, pornography addiction, or other type of sexual bondage. Heed what Scripture says: don’t flirt – flee!

Reflect:

  • In what ways have you faced temptation in the area of sexual purity? How might you resolve to flee? (if you are caught in some type of sexual sin, help is available. Contact or to get started toward freedom)
