Day 25 Eyewitness to Christmas

December 27, 2023

Scripture: Colossians 1:15-17,19-20  The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. By him all things were created both in the heavens and on the earth, both visible and invisible, the thrones and rulers and dominions and authorities, all things have been created by him and for him and he is before all things and in him all things hold together…For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Devotional: As we continue to consider the perspective of God, when it comes to the event of Jesus’ birth, today’s passage sheds light upon two significant themes:

Reconciliation.

Peace.

Oh, how we need those things today! How we have always needed them since the day sin entered the world through one simple act of disobedience and rebellion against the supremacy of God. The act that shattered the shalom of God. The act that separated sinful man from our Holy God.

God offers His only Son to bring both. “But now in Christ Jesus you who once

were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13).

We caused the brokenness; God brings the remedy.

Reflect:

  • What do these truths reveal about Almighty God?
