Scripture: 1 Peter 1:10-11 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow.
Devotional: Much of what the prophets foretold about Jesus’ coming give us a glimpse of God’s Heavenly perspective. Consider the words from today’s passage: the prophet spoke of God’s grace that was coming.
Often, we perceive God to be condemning, strict, severe, and even harsh. But He consistently shows Himself to be a God of grace, and never more than in the Christmas story. For the story of Christmas, is the story of God’s unfathomable grace.
“Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.” (1 Peter 1:13)
Because of this, He is deserving of all our praise.
