Day 7 What God Can Do Through Ordinary You

April 13, 2024

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Devotional: The words we read in today’s devotional, written by the apostle Paul, show us an important truth, also evidenced in the life of Moses: don't give up, be persistent, and don’t be discouraged.

Paul says God's purpose for your life is always greater than the problems in your life.  The problems you are currently facing have an eternal purpose; they have a long-range benefit. When you focus on your problems, they can seem immense, and you can easily become discouraged. But when you look at the God who is bigger than your problems, suddenly they don’t seem so insurmountable.

This is the pattern we see throughout Moses’ life. Problem after problem – enormous problems – drove Moses to seek God. And God always provided hope, direction, and assurance. He will do the same for you.

Reflect:

  • What problems are you currently facing that seem overwhelming for you?  Take some time right now to take them to God and ask Him to give you His greater perspective.
