Day 10 The Church

January 23, 2024

Scripture: Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Devotional: In every church, there's always someone in need. And in every church, there is someone whom God might call to meet that need. Sometimes you’re the one in need, and sometimes you’re the one who is in a position to respond to that need.

Perhaps you’re in need right now. There’s nothing wrong with that. Maybe you’re in need of prayer. You’re grieving over a great loss and the waves overwhelm you.  Maybe you're battling depression, or you're going through a trial, or you feel alone.  Perhaps you're a single parent trying to navigate life in a very complicated world. Or maybe you're struggling to pay the bills. It's tough out there, right? And you're worried about it. Or maybe you have anxiety in your life, and you don't know what to do with that. In every church, you'll see people who are in need and it’s a good place to be when you're in need.

We are encouraged, when we’re in need, to approach God’s throne of grace in confidence. No need to feel ashamed, or inadequate, or unworthy. You’re invited to approach God so that you can receive mercy and find grace to help you in your time of need. The church is a place (or should be a place) where you can experience this mercy and grace. That’s our calling. And the only way we can live out that calling is if each person who is part of the body of Christ is committed to extend that mercy and grace to others. Are you?

Reflect:

  • Are you in need today? If so, reach out. You can start by asking for prayer by emailing .
  • How would you rate yourself when it comes to extending mercy and grace to others? Is there a step you might take this week to do that with someone you know who is in need?
