Day 12 What God Can Do Through Ordinary You

April 18, 2024

Scripture: Genesis 7:1 The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.”

Devotional: What do you think it means to be found righteous in your generation?

Noah’s righteousness didn’t come from his good works; his good works came because of his righteousness. Like Abraham, who we also see in the Hebrews writer’s “hall of faith”, Noah’s righteousness was God’s gift in response to his personal faith. Like Abraham, Noah believed God, and it was “credited to them as righteousness.”

Noah likely learned this important truth from his father Lamech, who learned it from his father Methuselah, who learned it from his father Enoch (Genesis 5:21-29). What a rich legacy of faith Noah inherited.

Perhaps you similarly come from a long line of faithful believers, or maybe you are the first in your family to believe God and receive His righteousness. Regardless of your heritage, you have an opportunity to faithfully walk with God and teach the next generation to do the same.

Reflect:

  • What kind of legacy are you living, that others may follow in your footsteps?
