Day 5 What God Can Do Through Ordinary You

April 11, 2024

Scripture(s): Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other.’"

Hebrews 11:24-26 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt because he was looking ahead to his reward.

Devotional: As we continue to look at the life of Moses and how God used a seemingly ordinary man to undertake extraordinary feats, we’re reminded today of his intentional choice to be faithful to God, despite the challenges he faced.

Moses was wholly devoted to God, even though he faced incredible outside pressures from day to day. Many times, it cost him dearly, but he had made his choice and resolved to always yield to God’s will and purpose.

Can you say the same? Faithfulness to God is not accidental. You don’t just fall into it, you must, like Moses resolve to follow Him no matter the cost. But as we see, Moses knew there was a greater reward awaiting him.

Reflect:

  • When you observe Moses looking ahead to a greater reward, what comes to mind for the greater reward you have awaiting you? (See Matthew 5:12, Revelation 11:18, Matthew 16:27, Luke 6:35, and Colossians 3:24 for further study.)
