Day 5 When God Doesn't Make Sense

March 07, 2024

Scripture: Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in a person's heart,

but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.”

Devotional: Consider this: you don't have to understand the plan to trust God's purpose. When God seems absent or inattentive to your plans, your needs, or your desires, remember He has a great plan in mind.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says,

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding,

Seek His will in all you do,

and He will show you which path to take.”

Too often we depend on our understanding of things, and when God doesn’t make sense to us, it’s easy to question His heart and His character. This is the place where our finiteness and God’s infinite nature collide. He is all-knowing, He is all-understanding. We are not. And it’s in these moments where trust is essential.

Friend God has better plans for you than you could ever ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).  And what may be less than ideal right now, could very well be for your best in the future.

Reflect:

  • What difficulties do you have trusting in God’s plans versus your own?
