Scripture: Mark 1:17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
Devotional: The very first people that Jesus called to His church were fisherman. Hard-working men, devoted to their craft, would now be devoted to fish for men. What a peculiar bunch to start a movement! But Jesus’ kingdom has always been an upside-down kind of kingdom; one where the least are the greatest and the poor are rich.
Where were you when Jesus called you? Do you ever struggle with feeling “less than” when it comes to making a Kingdom impact? Take heart! Jesus uses the most unlikely of people to build His church — all that His glory might be on display.
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7
