Day 8 When God Doesn't Make Sense

March 10, 2024

Scripture: Psalm 27:14 “Wait for the Lord;

be strong and take heart

and wait for the Lord.”

Devotional: Waiting. Is there anything worse? Particularly when you know it’s within God’s power to deliver that thing you are anticipating, waiting is hard.

Waiting for a job, waiting to feel better, waiting for a spouse, waiting to have a child, waiting for someone you love to come to Christ – these are all scenarios where we can become impatient, wondering why God doesn’t seem to be moving as quickly as we’d like.

This week we’re going to be reminded in our devotions together that there’s purpose in the waiting. God’s delays are not necessarily His denials, and sometimes we just have to trust His timing.

No wonder the psalmist encourages us to be strong and to take heart. Waiting is not for the faint of heart. It’s challenging, frustrating, and sometimes even depressing. But the good news is, there is often something so very good on the other side of the waiting. And you can be changed in the process of it.

Reflect:

  • What is something for which you’ve been waiting for a while? Commit that thing to God as we navigate this week through “When God Seems Late.”
