Jim Class- Day 7
Scriptures: 1 Peter 4:12-13 12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
Philippians 3:10 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings ,becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
Devotional: When you find yourself struggling with pain in your life, be reminded that it is an opportunity to draw near to Christ. Audrey Assad says: “When we avoid suffering, either our own or that of another, we are actually avoiding Christ.”
As today’s passages suggest, suffering can bring us into greater intimacy with Christ who suffered on our behalf. There’s a glory awaiting us beyond this life as we suffer with Him. Whether it’s experiencing your own pain, or walking with another who is in distress, consider the privilege it is to be near your precious Savior, the One who gave himself wholly for you.
- What would it look like for you to embrace suffering and pain, that you may experience a more intimate relationship with Jesus who suffered for you?
- Pray for the strength to lean into your trials and the trials of others that you may draw nearer to Christ.
