What Hurts the Heart of Jesus? Day 10
Scripture: Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
Devotional: In yesterday’s devotions, we talked about bringing a sacrifice of praise. Today our passage speaks of being a living sacrifice. Typically, a sacrifice is something that is killed in order to pay homage to God. But being a living sacrifice means surrendering yourself, your body, your life, your wants, your desires, in order to be holy and to please God.
And we’re asked to do this in view of God’s mercy. It’s important to note that we offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, not to earn God’s favor, but because we’ve already been given God’s favor through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who became the ultimate sacrifice for our sin.
When you offer yourself as a living sacrifice, and you live wholly and fully to please Him, there’s no shallowness about that kind of worship. You’re giving Him the worship He deserves.
- Is there anything that holds you back from offering yourself as a living sacrifice?
